Last night my partner's mum rang up to ask if she could come over with her Dales pony today for some Parelli tuition. I don't consider myself experienced enough to teach in the slightest but she is new to Parelli and I feel that I know enough about level one groundwork to be able to give her pointers and encouragement. She's been interested in Parelli since I started and comes over whenever she gets time off work just for a bit of guidance and some fun. Thankfully the weather was nice today and we had a good time. She showed me areas she was having problems with and I gave her a few tips and she listened and bettered her approach. She hadn't ever done a horsenality chart for Simba, her Dales, so I printed one out for her to fill in. It was interesting to see how much he had changed in my mind from when she had got him and it helped her understand why he did ___ when she did ___. I didn't get Benji or Lily out to join in on the session like I usually do because she had asked for instruction rather than our usual mini play days. She's really getting a good grasp of games 1, 2, 3 and is slowly getting there with game 4. She also took up the gauntlet of having a PPL bareback whilst I led Simba around; she's never ridden bareback nor tried sitting on her balance point before so she said it felt weird but in a good way. Overall I had a really nice time and it helped me personally getting a better grasp of the games by being able to explain them to someone and why they are so beneficial. Pretty cool day! |

I started Parelli in January 2008 and it has been an incredible journey so far. Pre-Parelli I did the best with what I knew but now I know better; I want to do better!

I am owned by this gorgeous piebald cob mare, Lily. She's an interesting character, fun to play with and is a great teacher.
There's more about her on her own page.

It's not about disposable horses; it's about relationships for life.
It's not about quick fixes and artificial aids, it's about savvy; true understanding and expertise.
It's not about winning and others losing; It's about win-win: you and the horse need to feel good.
It's not about me me me; It's about changing the world for horses, becoming a person of knowledge and influence, and sharing what you know.
It's not about fear and doubt; It's about unconditional love and trust.
Love for the empowerment of others and trust that you'll never ask the horse to do something that would hurt or diminish his dignity.
Reveal your horse. Discover your potential. Live your dream.
