Departures and Arrivals!

Well on Sunday Lily went off to Arran's yard for retraining and I can't wait to go next Monday and see how she's doing!
Benji arrived yesterday and he's settled in very well. I caught him very easily which was such a relief and I decided that instead of making sure he understood the basic principles of each game, I wanted to set us up for success by making sure I laid the foundations of game 1 and 2 down well. We didn't play for very long because I had small goals in mind and I accomplished them.
After some work Benji was okay with having the carrot stick being rubbed on him and the savvy string flapping around on and off him when my life was down. Lily has taught me that that is an extremely important thing to teach horses because if they are afraid of the carrot stick they won't be able to play as well as another horse that isn't worried about it. Practising getting your life up and down at the right moments is extremely difficult at times but I'm getting the hang of it.
I'm so glad Benji's home and he's exactly what I thought he'd be. Arran said I needed a horse I can get through the levels with relatively hassle free so I can work with Lily a lot better and I think I've finally got one! Lily will always be a work in progress and as much as I love her sometimes she's such a challenge that it's nice to have a different, considerably less of a challenge to work with too.
I'm quite excited to see what Lily is like when she comes back but I'm trying not to get my hopes up so there's no room for disappointment. We're aiming for Arran's clinic at the end of June as my first date for riding her and just the thought of it makes me feel sick and gives me goosebumps! Speaking of riding I'm hoping to sit on Benji on Friday because Ashley is coming over on Saturday and it'd be nice to ride with her but we'll have to see if we're both ready!

Lily

I am owned by this gorgeous piebald cob mare, Lily. She's an interesting character, fun to play with and is a great teacher.

There's more about her on her own page.
The Philosophy
It's not about disposable horses; it's about relationships for life.
It's not about quick fixes and artificial aids, it's about savvy; true understanding and expertise.
It's not about winning and others losing; It's about win-win: you and the horse need to feel good.
It's not about me me me; It's about changing the world for horses, becoming a person of knowledge and influence, and sharing what you know.
It's not about fear and doubt; It's about unconditional love and trust.
Love for the empowerment of others and trust that you'll never ask the horse to do something that would hurt or diminish his dignity.

Reveal your horse. Discover your potential. Live your dream.
